This is the second of a three-part series (2019-2020) - Land, Water, and Sky. Much of my work is considered pop surrealism and has been done on a much smaller scale. I wanted to challenge myself with larger graphite pieces and explore further into scientific illustration. The three sea creatures featured here, the Elkhorn Coral, the Ammonite, and Crown-of-Thorns Starfish, may not have many similarities, but they're all connected by the sea, and each have beautiful, almost magical, qualities that are quite visible, even next to the others. I dove into a bottomless search for creatures on the interwebs I didn't know much about that looked other worldly. I'm glad to share my findings.
