I likely have some kind of chemical imbalance, but I naturally visually perceive things as other than they are quite often; pareidolia, an example. I'm inspired by nightmares, dreams, and everything in between. For Sharp Objects, I once saw carnations with petals that, to me, looked like pencil shavings. They looked fragile, brittle to the touch, unreal, a kind of beauty I could only communicate to others on paper, like so.
